Haute Hair
There certainly was a lot of style to take in at this year’s Sarasota Film Fest—some good, some bad. One of my favorite looks came from Michael Krempel, the mad genius behind the high-fashion hairstyles that adorned the svelte models roaming through the major SFF events. Complete with large peacock feathers and plumes, the artistic coiffures were a great interpretation of the fantastical logo that artist Vince Frasier created for this year’s festival.
Krempel is the owner and lead stylist of Michael Urban Hair Studio in Citrus Square. I don’t know if one would want to sport such haute hairstyles on a daily basis, but I’m guessing that if he can create something as extravagant as this, he must work wonders with a simple cut and color.

The first time we met Michael Krempel, owner and lead stylist at Michael Urban Hair Studio, he corrected us immediately when we referred to his place of business as a “salon.” It is a studio, dah-ling. After just one session in his chair, we understood the fuss. Krempel is an artist and your scalp is his canvas. Men and women, adults and children, and basic to breathtaking — Krempel and his team do it all.
